The Waratah Beach Surf Life Saving Club with the support of our program partners is running Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training for the community. A key step in the Chain of Survival of cariac arrest (when the heart stops pumping) is early CPR. The best way to increase early CPR for casualties that need it is to train as many people in the community as possible.
The Surf Club is offering CPR courses at no charge because we want as many people to participate as possible. We ask that participants make a donation to the club that they can afford. In addition to the time volunteered by our trainers there are equipment maintenance and consumable expenses to run the courses. The club hopes to expand this program and will need donations to help it grow.
This CPR training is the same that is provided to new lifesavers by our club trainers. For participants who would like a Nationally Recognised Certificate for work or other purposes, they can sit the CPR Assessment and be issued a certificate through Life Saving Victoria. There is an award processing fee charge by Life Saving Victoria so participants who would like a certificate will be charged a processing fee.
